Lithuanian people will always make sure their guests are so filling they would be unable to take another bite before they leave. From the ancient time Lithuanian people are satisfied, that good work can be made by that person, who is full. Food, which give power and energy to those who work in the fields and is mostly characterised by meat and potatoes prepared in one or another way.

  1. The king of Lithuanian national food is a cepelinai – dish from potatoes, oval, tasty and pretty fat.
  2. Kugelis is a well loved Lithuanian dish, which is pretty easy and cheap to cook.
  3. Potato Sausage is an unusual Lithuanian dish of the category “How can they eat that?”. Various nations have something untraditional – some eat cochlea, others eat frogs. Lithuanians eat simple stuffed by grated potatoes cleaned pig guts.

Another traditional dish from meat is Stuffed cabbages – this is not highly delicious, but also improve the mood and atmosphere at home.
For hot summer day the best choise will be Cold beetroot soup. Soup not only refreshes, but lightly satiates too. You will not surfeit and will be full of energy after dinner.
And what about Lithuanian drinks and snacks : Lithuanian beer has won acclaim on many levels – from enthusiastic Old Town bar patrons to international fairs and championships.
